Why a string trio and not a quartet?

We get asked this question a lot and the answer has two parts!

  1. It’s how we started! The three founding members - Katie, Lisa and Maria - played their first wedding together all the way back in 2011. It was a ceremony in Staunton, Virginia. Just as we were beginning our prelude, a freak summer thunder storm swept through the ceremony site and everyone - us included - had to rush inside. Only moments later, the tent we’d been playing under BLEW AWAY! Thank goodness everyone was safe, but after playing such a memorable wedding, we all looked at each other and thought “We should do this more often!”

  2. And two - cost benefit to our couples! With a string trio you get all the beauty of violin, viola and cello (melody, harmony, bass) but with out the extra cost of a second violin. No offense to all our violin playing buddies, but a second violin only gives you more of what you’ve already got - just more harmony. By only having three players, it saves you on performance and travel costs, which sounds pretty good to us! ;)

Our venue requires insurance. Are you insured?

YES! We are fully insured up to $200 million dollars liability insurance through Mercer Consumer. We are able to provide our paperwork at any time!

Will you attend our rehearsal?

Generally, no. Why? Because it’s important to remember that this our profession. The Bloom Trio has played nearly 700 weddings since its formation, and many of our musicians have played countless weddings before joining our roster. While this is something you’ll do just once in your life, it’s something we do many times a weekend so it’s easy for us to fit into any wedding plan. :)
